Presenters
Alexandra
Makris,
M. A., was born, raised and schooled in Ohio and
lives there still. She was an elementary teacher, mother of two daughters
and a consumer health advocate, all of which sensitized her to the fragility
of children and the importance of living as close to "natural"
as possible for health and well-being. And as a student of spiritual life,
practicing the Way of The Heart via the Wisdom Teaching of Avatar Adi
Da Samraj, Alexandra was discovering that "we are more than what
we look like". Therefore, when she met Michele, she recognized her
horses to be representative of a vast non-human world that is profoundly
in touch with the Source of life and can thereby be conduits for all kinds
of unexplainable or "magical" states, including, but not limited
to, healing.
In this disposition, Alexandra and Michele wrote Magical Mac, The True
Story of a Healing Horse, as a tribute to an old horse who lived far beyond
his potential to participate in a life of love and service-which is the
potential of all. It is a tribute to our children, as well, who must meet
many challenges, most of which are not of their making, every day.
|
Michele S. Davis,
PH.D, owner of Serendipity Stables in York Center, Ohio for 25 years,
is the caretaker of six Healing Horses who work in the Native American
Tradition of Medicine Horses. The work of these Magical Horses is widely
acclaimed by people whose lives have been changed for the better-especially
children with autism, ADD/ADHD, Tourette's syndrome, learning problems
and other such challenges, who have been emotionally and physically
rehabilitated by interaction with the Healing Horses and Michele.
Michele has a long history with horses-raising, training and riding
them, but her involvement with healing came as a surprise. Her brilliant
academic career in Latin American Culture and Theatre (in which she
earned five PhDs) came to an end when she was stricken with leukemia
and was given a few months to live by medical standards. She turned
to the natural modalities of diet, prayer, mediation and miracles for
her recovery, learning that wellness occurs when the body takes in what
it can use, and illness occurs when it takes in what it can't use.
She recovered and acquired the healing arts of Native American Energy
Balancing, reflexology, Sacral-cranial work, Pastoral Counseling-and
then she met McDougall, a horse who meditated! Her life of healing and
horses merged forever. Old Mac took over, lived to be 50, the oldest
horse on record in the USA, and together they created a unique healing
center that continues to this day. McDougall's miraculous work is chronicled
in Annette Foglino's article, "Some Sort of Magic" in Reader's
Digest August 1998 publication, and Magical Mac, The True Story of A
Healing Horse by Michele and Alexandra Makris, 2002.
Today, Michele, as a Leaning Specialist, offers help for children who
display frailties via sessions with the healing horses and other non-invasive
means. She can also identify high awareness horses, and their needs,
for horse owners who wish to provide the special environment these animals
require to do healing work.
When she began to communicate with her horses, who tell her things the
people who come to them for healing need to know, she was inspired to
create The Magical Healing and Wisdom of Horses workshops with Alexandra
and has been asked to tell her amazing story and research findings where
people who are interested in Holistic and Spiritual matters congregate.

HEALTH: DEALING WITH ADHD
Michele
S. Davis, PH.D.,
Learning Specialist with focus on the autistic and ADD/ADHD child, emphasizing
that wellness occurs in nature: fresh air, pure foods and animal connections
via a unique natural program of digestive tract rehabilitation, food/chemical
exposure reprogramming, energy balancing, rhodium and iridium therapy,
and interaction with the world renowned Serendipity Stables Healing Horses.
(See Annette Foglino's article, "Some Sort of Magic", Reader's
Digest, August, 1998, about Serendipity Stables' original healing horse
and about Jessica, an autistic child featured in the article, and see
Magical Mac, The True Story of a Healing Horse www.magicalmac.com. )
As
a leukemia survivor, quality of life issues have occupied me for 25 years,
preparing me to assist distraught parents and their youngsters who do
not fit the norm. Mostly, I see children who manifest symptoms labeled
"ADD/ADHD". My first ADHD child terrified and amazed me. This
6-year-old thrashed around my living room while his grandparents announced,
"We don't think you can help us, but if you do fix Cory, we have
two more like him at home!" Not knowing how to proceed, I recollected
my leukemia days and the American Indian healer who gave me direct energy
treatments, teaching me how to feel energy with my hands and rebalance
it throughout the body. Instructing the grandfather to hold Cory on his
lap, I began filtering energy into Cory. He became calm and still and
then amazed us all by falling asleep soundly for the first time.
After
20 years of soft research with ADHD youngsters, I define them as "nutritionally
deficient, adrenalin poisoned" children. Their profiles often include
such symptoms as picky eater, underweight/physically frail, gastrointestinal
complaints, hyperactivity, inability to fall or stay asleep, cravings
for sugar/caffeine, unprovoked emotional responses, ringing/noises in
the ears. The ADHD child, devoid of energy, runs on adrenalin. The constant
throb of the fight or flight hormone creates hyperactivity, behavioral
disturbance and inability to focus. The solution is to make sure the child
is processing nutrients in order to create energy and turn off the adrenal
glands
